Meet Mike in our rehabbed kitchen.  Everything is from scratch except the cooking.  The house was a burnout that sold for $5,000 cash.  We rebuilt the walls, hired an electrician, did the dusty drywall work, laid some tile, installed the sink, counter, lighting, windows, appliances, you name it.  We work together so the neutral colors are more his style.  I painted the walls doing an original design on the ceiling, choosing cherry for the stained oak cabinets since high school woodshop class taught how to do that.  We enjoyed the hard work; Mike and I both have a German side that doesn't mind it.

Ceiling in Kitchen & Lighting

Once a triangular-shaped kitchen storage closet, we knocked that out before
turning the space into an upstairs 1/2 bath.

This new 1/2 wall replaced an old burgundy iron handrail that had
separated the room from the unseen basement stairs on the other side.

This entry way into the dining room used to be half in size, occupied immediately
on the left by an old coat closet, so by knocking it out, the living spaces opened
right up to create a larger look.
